Whilst Internet connectivity has become both ubiquitous and essential in the developed world, there are vast areas where it cannot reach because of distance from resources, low populations, impossible terrain, absence of power, lack of viability and insufficient technological solutions.
BANDWAY’s™ mission is to provide information to remote areas that are beyond the reach of conventional communications, providing educational, medical and weather data to communities that cannot be supported by any other means.
Educational Material
BANDWAY™ deploys delivery techniques for streaming data to remote ground stations from geo stationery satellites, delivering a library of constantly updated reference information (numeracy and literacy programs) to an "offline" school. Information is recorded so that it can be looked at whenever the local population has available time.
Medical Support
Crucial, often life saving medical information and reference data will be semi interactive with BANDWAY™. Questions and answers will be dealt with through a central diagnostic resource to facilitate a rapid response to many arising medical situations in remote areas.
Weather Data
Local Income Generating
Information is arguably the most important tool that is needed to ensure a rising income for rural communities. What to grow, when to sell it, and at what price becomes essential knowledge to ensure that farmers retain a fair share of the crop value. Similarly traditional crafts require reasonable access to markets, in a structured manner. Intermediaries can play a role in the delivery chain, but when they are the sole arbiters of price, forcing producer acceptance, they perpetuate poverty.
Matching requirements can mean the supply of a surplus to an area of need within a localised area, saving on transport costs and wholesaler margins. Bandway is the delivery medium for the information that will increase income generating activities in remote areas, and contribute to greater margin retention by the producer.
